Salem Trees Oil Landscape Painting SOLD

$ 52.00

Museum This very Impressionist landscape painting is based on a couple of cedars I saw next to the wall in the Charter Street Cemetery in Salem, MA, when I visited it with friends this spring. This is where the Witch Memorial is as well. I wanted to show the trees, which in real life are wonderfully twisted, as bursting with life and glowing color--not only does life persist, despite all, but witchcraft, the magic of the folk, persists. This painting uses some of my favorite colors--cobalt blue and Indian yellow and scarlet lake. The original oil painting is 16 x 20" on canvas and has been sold.
