Red Waves Landscape Painting
I was intrigued by a painting I saw that featured a brown sea and thought to try painting a red one. I wanted to show how the sun lightens the top of waves, only in this case, highlighting the redness of the water. The purple comes from the reflection of the sky. These huge waves seem about to engulf us, but I also considered that they represent our own body--our blood moves to the tides of the moon, after all, and often seems to dominate our life, despite all our mind's attempts to rule. We are awash, then, in our bodies, yet we still have moments when we can not only appreciate the body's power but also its beauty--no matter what we look like.
The original oil painting is 16 x 20"/41 x 51cm on cotton canvas with a traditional 75"/2cm profile and is ready to frame. Archival prints on heavy watercolor paper are also available.
