Chthonia Abstract Landscape Art Print
This abstract painting shows the many connections to the Underworld that we might not notice in our daytime existence. I wanted to show what it might be like to gaze up from the Underworld into the mundane world here, so I put a strip of sky in the middle of the opening. I chose the title "Chthonia" because it was often applied to Underworld goddesses like Hekate and Demeter. This painting began with the image of two slanted black stripes against a white/gray background, which reminded me of a gate or passage. This in turn made me think of the various gates and entries into the Underworld of various cultures. The original painting was exhibited in the March 2016 show "Abstracts" at the Light Space Time Gallery.
The giclee prints are on 100% cotton archival fine art paper, colors are matched to the original by the artist, and they are signed on the back.
